I am an Associate Professor in the Gatton College of Business and a board member of LINKS, a center for research on social networks (www.linkscenter.org). My research focuses on the role of psychology in the perception and construction of social networks in the workplace. Ongoing projects include a field-based study of social network perception in an all-female organization; a network simulation of the performance effects of altruistic behavior; and an examination of the time-contingent effects of coauthorship networks on the production of new knowledge in organizational studies. I have served on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Review (2003-2008), Administrative Science Quarterly (2003-2009), and the British Journal of Management (2001-2006). In addition to my research and teaching, I am passionate about dogs, chess, and rock climbing.
